Accessibility
Every family deserves access to child-safety information, including families living with disability.
Effective date: October 2026
Protect Prevent Empower (dba PPE Kids) is committed to making ppekids.org usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology. Our work is built for every child, including children with disabilities, and our website should be too.
What we do
- We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
- Pages use clear headings, descriptive links and text alternatives for meaningful images.
- The Site can be navigated by keyboard, with a “skip to content” link and visible focus outlines.
- Text and backgrounds are chosen for strong color contrast, and pages adapt to phones, tablets and zoomed-in screens.
- Animations on our children’s pages turn off automatically for visitors who set “reduce motion” on their device.
- Our Parent Hub introduction video includes captions.
Known limitations
Some older downloadable PDFs and some videos hosted on YouTube may not yet be fully accessible. If you need any document or video in another format, such as plain text, large print or a transcript, we’re glad to provide it.
Tell us how we’re doing
If you have trouble using any part of the Site, or have a suggestion, please contact us at [email protected] or 847-PPE-KIDS (773-5437). Please tell us the page and the problem, and we’ll respond as quickly as we can.
