Privacy Policy
We protect children for a living. We take protecting your information just as seriously.
Effective date: October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Protect Prevent Empower (dba PPE Kids), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“PPE Kids,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses and protects information when you visit ppekids.org (the “Site”). The short version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your information, and we never use it to track you across other websites for advertising.
Information we collect
Information you choose to send us. When you email us (for example at [email protected], [email protected] or another PPE Kids address), book a call, or call us, we receive what you share, such as your name, email address, phone number, organization and message. We use it only to respond to you and to provide the services you ask about.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site collects basic technical information when you visit, such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the website that referred you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (country, state or region, and city) based on your IP address. We use this only in combined, summary form to understand which resources are helpful and to improve the Site. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to measure how the Site is used. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technology to produce summary reports for us, such as how many people visited, from which countries and states, and which pages they read. We do not combine this information with other information to identify you, and we do not use advertising or remarketing features to follow you around the internet.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The Site works normally without analytics cookies.
Our children’s page is not tracked. We do not use Google Analytics or any other tracking on our Lumi page, which is made for children.
Services run by other companies
Some features of the Site are provided by trusted outside services. When you use them, their own privacy policies apply:
- Donations and newsletter sign-ups are processed by Zeffy. We do not see or store your full payment card information.
- Videos are hosted on YouTube. Embedded videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode and load only when you press play.
- Call scheduling uses Google Calendar booking pages.
- Hosting and security are provided by Cloudflare, which processes technical data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the Site and protect it from attacks.
- Fonts and badges, such as Google Fonts and our Candid transparency seal, load from those providers’ servers.
How we use information
- To answer your questions and provide the programs and services you request.
- To send our newsletter, only if you sign up, with an unsubscribe link in every message.
- To understand and improve the Site.
- To keep the Site secure and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with the service providers listed above, as needed to run the Site, or when required by law.
Children’s privacy
Parts of the Site, such as our Lumi page, are made for children to enjoy with a parent or caregiver. The Site does not ask children to create accounts or enter personal information, we do not use analytics or tracking on the Lumi page, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We ask that messages to Lumi be sent by a parent or guardian from the adult’s own email address, without the child’s last name, address or school. Replies go to the adult who wrote to us. If we learn that we have received personal information from a child under 13 without a parent’s involvement, we will reply only to a parent where possible and delete the child’s information. Parents may contact us at any time to review or delete information about their child.
If a message tells us a child may be in danger or being harmed, we may share it with child protective services or law enforcement, as required by law and our commitment to child safety.
Reports and safety concerns
PPE Kids is a prevention organization, not a crisis line. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 911. To report abuse, call the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-422-4453. See Get Help.
Partner organizations and the PPE Kids Portal
Information that partner organizations provide as part of our screening, training and accreditation services is handled under our agreements with those organizations and our internal data-protection policies, not this Site policy.
How long we keep information
We keep emails and contact information only as long as needed to respond and to maintain our records. Analytics data is kept in summary form according to Google Analytics’ retention settings.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections across the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not email sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, unless we ask for it through a secure channel.
Your choices
You may ask us to access, correct or delete personal information you have sent us, or to stop contacting you, by emailing [email protected]. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any message.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above.
