Lumi’s Calm Harbor

A quiet place to rest when feelings are big.

Breathe in…
I’m right here with you, Captain.
Calm sounds
For grown-ups
  • During a meltdown, less is more. Lower the lights and noise, reduce demands and questions, stay close and calm, and keep your own words few and slow. This page can help, but your calm presence matters most.
  • Some children are soothed by sound and others are overwhelmed by it. Sounds and Lumi’s voice start off; turn on only what helps. “Dim the screen” lowers brightness and color.
  • Practice the calm tools on good days, so they feel familiar when big feelings come.
  • If anyone is in danger of getting hurt, focus on safety first. If a meltdown follows something your child shared, see what to do next.
